Critical study of manuscript 'Pramehadhikar'

Abstract

 Introduction- Manuscripts are handwritten texts aged more than 75 years and have scientific importance. Pramehadhikar is one of the untouched MSS presents in the Shri Raghunath temple MSS Library, Jammu. It is a compilation of about 38 formulations described for the treatment of Prameha. Aim and Objectives- To study the MSS Pramehadikar. To compare the formulations with Bharat Bhaishajya Ratnakar. Materials and Methods- MSS Pramehadikar is compared with B.B.R. Observations- MSS is written in the year Samvat 1990. It is the compilation of 38 kalpas out of which 22 kalpas are found similar with B.B.R. Anupana, sevan kal, matra, pathya, specific indications according to type of Prameha are given. All the formulations are herbomineral except formulation no 2 and dhatri leha. Dhatri nisha and Chandraprabha vati are said as best medication for Prameha. Conclusion- It is a compilation of medicines for Prameha with herbomineral contents. Vanga bhasma is the key content in all formulations.
